Hair!!

Needless to say I have been waiting for along time to be able to do my daughters hair.  As my friends can attest I have been practicing for many years.  Today was the day that I was able to put a ponytail in Londyn's hair and it stayed.  It looks so cute and it doesn't seem to bother her.  I will see if it lasts until I pick her up from daycare!!

Happy Monday to all!!

Crazy Week!!!

This week feels like it will never end.  We have had a roller coster of a couple days.  It all started on Sunday afternoon, when Londyn decided that it was time to start crawling.  It seems like she never wants to sit still anymore.  The littlest tasks are now hard to accomplish, like changing her diaper or clothes.  Then, Sunday evening we started noticing a rash developing on her stomach and back.  We thought that maybe it was from rubbing on the carpet from crawling.  Then over the day Monday, the rash spread all over her body and then her eye started getting red and swollen.  Needless to say I started getting worried, we call the pediatrician Monday night as was advised to start benadryl and call in the morning.  By the next morning, things were not getting better just worse.  So Tuesday I left school early and we went to the dr.  We started her on some medicine and special instructions of how to treat the rash.  By the time, I picked Londyn up from daycare on Wednesday her rash was better, but her eye was so much worse, it was really red, swollen, and stuff was starting to come out of it.  You could really tell it was bothering her.  This is hard to tell with Londyn because she is such a happy baby all the time.  Because of this, we called the Doctor back Wednesday night and she called in eye drops and for us to come in the next day.  So again on Thursday I left school early and took Londyn to the Doctor.  We have come to the realization that the rash isn't from food or a change in something, but is viral.  Which means it is something like the measles, mumps, or fifths disease and of course, we have to continue with what we are doing- Benadryl, eye drops, oatmeal baths, calamine lotion, and cortisone cream and let the rash run it course.  What everyone doesn't realize is that I am not good at that and when my baby looks so horrible it is so not easy.

I guess this is another important mother lesson to learn and so close to Mother's Day.  I don't know how we do this on a daily basis, but I guess that is why we are Mother's because we can handle anything.

Happy Mother's Day to all the mothers out there!!

Books

Reading has become a new favorite past time in the King household.  Last night, Dax was reading one of Londyn favorite books to her.  She loved having her big brother read to her.  When he was done, he gave her the book to look at herself and she started turning the pages and talking.  I think she was pretending to read the book to herself.  It was so cute.  I can't believe how big she is getting, she seems to be changing every day.

Love this Picture

Londyn already loves the IPad, she likes all of the different colors and how it moves.  She even loves when it is not on and she can see her reflection in the screen.  She is also wearing one of my chew-beads necklace, she loves chewing on them.  Now that she has cut not one, but two teeth life has been interesting.

Great Weekend with Friends!!!

This past weekend Chad and I packed up Dax and Londyn and we drove up to Lake Forest, IL to see the Hanson clan.  Friday night was a relaxing time, just getting caught up.  Saturday morning, Kate and I went to a my first Zumba class.  It was great, however, about halfway through it I thought I was going to keel over.  Then I got my second wind and finished strong.  After we got home, the guys took the big kids to Costco, while we showered and got lunch ready.  After lunch the guys decided they needed a little retail therapy.  For dinner, we drove into Highland Park for some Real Urban BBQ.  It was so good, however, next time I am just getting sides.  They are so good and really I can live without the meat.  We ended the night with a boys verse girls game of spades.  Kate and I still think that they cheated.  All the kids had a great time playing together, which is amazing considering the age differences; Dax 10, Lauren 4, Annie 2, Londyn 71/2 months, and Caroline 7 months.
Londyn and Caroline in September, they were both about 2 months old.

This is Londyn and Caroline last weekend, they are both about 7 months old.
Londyn is still so much longer than Caroline.

Here is all the kids together before we left for our drive home.

Many Firsts!!

The past month has been so busy and many things have happened at our house.  However, we are continually reminded of the important things of life by Dax and Londyn.
Dax and Londyn were baptized on January 26.  It was a great day and we are so glad that our families were able to be there to share it with us.

Londyn wore the same Christening gown that I wore, this is the slip from underneath the gown.
Londyn was so happy in pink on Valentines day.                    Dax continues to get a good report from
school, so he got a bike for doing so
                                                                                                   good.

Londyn has been practicing sitting by herself at the end of each of her baths, she just loves it.  She also is starting to wave when you say hi or bye, so this is her waving to her daddy.

Can't wait to see what happens next in the King house!!

With Christmas came Big changes for our Family

After much discussion, two weeks before Christmas break my step-son, Dax, came to live with us.  It was a much needed change for him to get a new start.  However, this time of year is normally crazy busy this change brought new meaning to busy.  Plus, the flu was making the second round in our house at this time, the first time was over Thanksgiving break.  Dax made the transition really smoothly and is continuing to do really well at school and with his homework after school.

Londyn had a wonderful first Christmas.  We spent the 22, 23, 24, and morning of the 25 at my brother and sister-in-laws house with my parents.  Other than Londyn not wanting to sleep at all at night, it was a wonderful trip.  We were able to visit with family at the Grand Rapids Public Museum, survive Christmas Eve service with two young children, and eat lots of great food.  Then we celebrated with the boys the weekend after Christmas with my parents and Chad's parents.  We have deemed Christmas of 2012 the year of the Lego because all the boys wanted was Legos and we spent the next couple of days putting them together.  However, they love them and continue to play with them everyday.

Uncle Eric and Aunt Kelly always get the coolest gifts.

All the kids and I getting ready to open gifts.

Dax loving his gifts so much, he was giving full body hugs!

Bane from Batman, Grayson loved his mask.
